Rusty's Fun

Rusty has never seen this much snow all at once. He wasn't quite sure at first but it did not take him long at all to jump right in, literally! We have a huge field across the street from our house. Brandon took Rusty over there yesterday and today for some exercise. He sure did have a good time.

The Aftermath

We didn't have too much digging out to do today since we kept up with shoveling yesterday. Brandon shoveled the sidewalk and driveway at least 5 times yesterday. He was also very helpful to many of our neighbors who needed help keeping up with it as well. I shoveled the deck and stairs at least 5 times so that Rusty had a path to be able to go potty. Brandon finished up by shoveling again this morning. He also had the daunting task of clearing off his car which had accumulated 16 inches of snow. Brandon ventured out today by heading to the grocery store and found the roads to be ok for him but others had difficulty most likely due to lack of knowing how to drive in the snow. It is still pretty messy here. They have already called off school for Monday and Tuesday. Since we are leaving to head home on Wednesday, I had already taken Monday and Tuesday as vacation days so I don't have to worry about driving.

BLIZZARD of 2009...

at least that is what the media is calling it! I certainly had some nostalgia for the time I spent in Edinboro/Erie from this snow storm. It started late Friday night and never stopped until early Sunday morning. It certainly was epic for this area. It was the 6th largest snow storm in Washington history but the largest snow storm ever for the month of December. When all was said and done, we totaled around 19 inches of snow. Needless to say, we have been couped up in the house minus shoveling and snow play time since Friday. The main roads seem to be ok but many of the side roads are still impassable. Brandon's work was closed both Saturday and Sunday. He can take liberal leave for tomorrow.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!!!!!

We are having our first snowfall of the season today! I heard the forecast for snow yesterday but didn't really pay too much attention. Well, maybe I should have paid better attention. Then I wouldn't have been completely shocked when the snow began to fall today! The weather channel is calling for a total of 3 to 5 inches here which can devastate the area. Of course now that I don't work in the schools and no longer get snow days, I am happy that it is happening on the weekend and not during the week. Sorry to all of my teacher friends who would have had a snow day had this happened yesterday or on Monday =)

Today is going to be a stay in, get things done around the house kind of day. Maybe I can finish New Moon today!

Rusty loves the snow! He was totally CRAZY this morning playing around in the snow! Now he is out like a light.
